"I expect that this meeting will strengthen the mutually beneficial bilateral relations between the two countries," he said in an official statement released on Thursday.
A number of topics were discussed during the meeting, such as efforts made to strengthen cooperation thus far.
The cooperation comprised the follow-up to the Flight Information Region (FIR) agreement and collaboration on the development of maritime human resources through training programs.
The two countries also explored future cooperation opportunities, including improving air connectivity from Singapore to Indonesia, specifically to domestic tourism destinations, in keeping with the air transportation agreement between the two countries.
They further discussed the ASEAN Open Sky agreement as well as collaboration on port state control (PSC) and flag state inspection (FSI) activities to strengthen sea transportation safety and security.
On Thursday, the minister also accompanied President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to the Indonesia-Singapore leaders’ retreat at Fullerton Hotel in Singapore.
During the leaders’ retreat, Indonesia and Singapore inked three agreements related to politics, law, and security, which comprised the FIR agreement as well as extradition and defense cooperation, Widodo informed.
Indonesia and Singapore also reached an agreement on improving cooperation in renewable energy, including increasing investment, he said at a press conference with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in Singapore.
In addition, Indonesia and Singapore agreed to cooperate on developing young talents in the technology sector to allow the two countries to share their experiences in the industry.
