Jakarta (ANTARA) - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno revealed that he will conduct a comprehensive review of Bali Governor I Wayan Koster's suggestion concerning revocation of visa on arrival (VoA) for tourists from Russia and Ukraine.

This comprehensive review will be conducted since VoA involves multiple ministries or institutions, he noted during The Weekly Brief with Uno streamed online on Monday.

Moreover, it is longitudinal, thereby translating to the fact it is based on the number of tourists entering the country that can potentially boost tourism recovery not just in Bali but also Indonesia, he remarked.

Uno said he was in discussion with the Immigration Directorate General at the Law and Human Rights Ministry regarding the suggestion by involving the Bali provincial government to continue to monitor the developments concerning VoA.

They will also provide the latest information in the event of a follow-up from the governor's suggestion.

During the event, Uno also noted that his ministry will increase the number of promotions in the form of discount for airplane tickets, promotion for hotel rooms, and discount for tourist village packages.

This is done in preparation for Ramadhan and Eid al-Fitr 1444 H.

It was earlier reported that the Bali governor had proposed to the Law and Human Rights Ministry to revoke the VoA for Russian and Ukrainian tourists looking to visit Bali.

He deemed this policy to be important, given the prevalence of reports in which foreign nationals from the two countries conduct violations in Bali with the intent to visit it.

Moreover, the conflict that occurs between the two countries causes these foreign nationals to seek comfort in Bali, including for work.
