"We will ask again all participants in the session, can the draft law regarding the stipulation of Government Regulation in Lieu of Law Number 2 of 2022 concerning Job Creation become a law be approved to be passed into law?" House speaker Puan Maharani asked all participants at the plenary meeting.
On the occasion, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that the existence of the Job Creation Law should be maintained by the government, especially in the midst of an economic situation hit by uncertainty.
Various derivatives of the Job Creation Law have become programs and policies that accelerate economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The government along with relevant ministers express their gratitude and appreciation. Hopefully, this Perppu, which has been enacted as a law, becomes a great benefit to mitigate the impact of economic dynamics," he stated.
However, two of the nine factions of the DPR -- the Democratic Party and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) -- voiced their refusal for the Perppu to be passed into law.
Earlier, at the plenary meeting of the House' Legislative Body on Wednesday (Mar 15), it was agreed to bring the Perppu on job creation to the plenary meeting, so that it could subsequently be passed into law.
