The provision of the THR is the government’s attempt to keep spurring the economy of the people.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The disbursement of the Eid al-Fitr allowance (THR) to civil servants (ASN), pensioners, as well as personnel from the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) and National Police is aimed at bolstering the community's economy.

The statement was made by Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN RB) Minister Abdullah Azwar Anas at a joint press conference with Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati regarding the THR, which was broadcast on the PAN RB Ministry’s YouTube channel on Wednesday.

"The provision of the THR is the government’s attempt to keep spurring the economy of the people," Anas said.

The ASN, retirees, as well as military and police officers can spend their allowance on commodities required for preparations for Eid al-Fitr, which is estimated to fall on April 22, 2023, he added.

In this way, the THR can become a fiscal instrument to help strengthen national economic recovery, he explained.

The PAN RB Minister also urged all ASN to implement impactful bureaucratic reform that can benefit the community.

"The PAN RB Ministry has implemented a thematic bureaucratic reform scheme, thus all state apparatuses can focus on solving the community’s problems, especially regarding the five main issues," he said.

The issues include reducing poverty, increasing investment, strengthening the digitalization of public services, including implementing an electronic-based governance system (SPBE), intensifying the use of domestic products, and controlling inflation.

On the same occasion, Indrawati announced that the government will begin to disburse the allowance ten days prior to the Islamic holy day.

The THR will be provided to all active state apparatuses and retirees, comprising 1.8 million military and police personnel, central government civil servants, and state officials as well as 3.7 million ASN from regional governments.

The Finance Minister said that the Eid Al-Fitr allowance comprises the salary or pension, coupled with relevant funding, such as for family, food, structural and functional position, and other bonuses.

In addition, 50 percent of the performance allowance will be added to the total THR for those who are eligible, she said.
