With active participation from everyone, it is expected that homecoming this year will be a joyful and captivating one
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Muhadjir Effendy called on the public to meticulously plan their Eid exodus so as to avoid traffic jams.

"We appeal to the public to plan their Eid exodus and prepare everything thoroughly from this moment on in order to avoid traffic jams and inconvenience on the way," Effendy remarked here on Friday.

The minister also called for the need to still follow health protocols to protect themselves against the risk of COVID-19 spread, as the pandemic is still around.

Currently, no particular circular has been issued about COVID-19 health protocols during Ramadhan and Eid, he stated.

"Although there is no particular circular on health protocols, we urge the people to remain disciplined in following the health protocols for the sake of maintaining safety and convenience as well as to anticipate the spread of the COVID-19 virus," he noted.

Effendy also cautioned that despite the COVID-19 situation being kept under control lately, there are still some people who got infected by the virus. Thus, people still need to be careful.

"With active participation from everyone, it is expected that homecoming this year will be a joyful and captivating one," the minister remarked.

An expert from Purwokerto Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed), Dr Yudhi Wibowo, stated that to date, the pandemic status is still up, so people should continue to follow health protocols during their trip.

He pressed for the need to remain disciplined to prevent the risk of COVID-19 transmission on account of the fact that crowding can occur if the rate of travel increases.

"The use of mask is still relevant to increase protection," Wibowo highlighted.

He also called for consistent dissemination of information to the public about the importance of following health protocols and adopting a healthy lifestyle.
