"Significant progress has been achieved on goals numbers 6 and 11 regarding access to water and sanitation, handwashing facilities, safe public transportation, water resources, and green open spaces," said Ivanovich Agusta, the ministry's head of the development and information agency, on Friday.
At the 10th Asia-Pacific Forum for Sustainable Development in Bangkok, Thailand, on March 27-30, 2023, Indonesia's SDGs achievements had also increased in the seventh, ninth, and 17th goals, especially on energy efficiency, sustainable industry, reducing carbon emissions, exports of high-tech industrial products, and data availability, he said.
He emphasized the importance of data availability and reliability in evaluating the implementation and achievement of SDGs, especially at the regional and village levels.
Hence, he stressed that the government should continue to improve data quality and data disaggregation to include disadvantaged groups.
Agusta stated that the Indonesian SDGs National Secretariat Team continues to work closely with local governments and other stakeholders in advancing the implementation of SDGs.
As of December 2022, some 32 out of the 38 provinces in Indonesia have established Provincial-Level Action Plans for SDGs that are the basis for implementing SDGs, he remarked.
"Universities and the academic community also make a significant contribution, collaborating with local governments through 37 SDGs Centers throughout Indonesia," he remarked.
In addition, international development partners are involved in promoting and facilitating the implementation of SDGs by local governments in Indonesia, Agusta remarked.
Addressing delegates from 53 Asia-Pacific countries at the Review of Regional Progress and Opportunities for Achieving the SDGs session, Indonesia suggested an inclusive approach to ensure the achievement of all SDGs Goals by 2030, he added.
"We are promoting collaboration between all state and non-state actors and relevant stakeholders at the national and regional levels. We hope to increase this inclusive collaboration to advance the implementation of SDGs in Asia and the Pacific," he concluded.
