"From a tourism perspective, the public mobility that is estimated to reach 124.8 million during this year's Eid homecoming holiday will also encourage visits to numerous tourism destinations," she said in an official statement issued on Friday.
In addition to tourist destinations, transportation, accommodation, foods and beverages are also things that tourists may spend on the most during the Eid homecoming holiday, Tanoesoedibjo informed.
Economic circulation in the tourism and creative economy sector is estimated to reach Rp100 trillion–Rp150 trillion, or US$6.69 billion–US$10.04 billion.
To ensure that tourists can travel safely and comfortably, the ministry will ensure the availability of official transportation, rest area readiness, and services at tourism destinations.
“The ministry has continued to ensure the availability of official transportation, readiness of rest areas for drivers, health protocols, services, and security for tourism," she informed.
Tanoesoedibjo said she expects that this year's Eid homecoming holiday will proceed well for homecomers.
"I hope that this year's Eid homecoming can proceed well and bring happiness to us all," the deputy minister remarked.
It was earlier reported that Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno has urged people who plan to return to their hometowns for Eid to contribute to the local economy.
"After arriving in your hometown, go to local tourism destinations and contribute to the local economy by consuming regional culinary and creative economy products," he said.
Uno further said that homecomers who plan to use their personal vehicles should ensure the reliability and safety of their vehicles.
He also asked them not to force themselves to ride for more than 12 hours and take adequate rest at the designated areas before continuing their travel.
