"Tourism destinations that will potentially see a significant increase in the number of tourists are Puncak-Bogor, Cipanas-Cianjur, Tangkuban Perahu, Kawah Putih, Ciwidei, and several beaches in West Java," he said during “The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno” here on Monday.
Tourist attractions in other provinces such as Dieng-Baturaden, Bandungan-Semarang, and Prambanan Temple in Central Java, and Yogyakarta, as well as the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, Jatim Park, and other zoos in East Java are also expected to receive crowds of tourists.
He, therefore, advised the managements of the tourist attractions to prevent overcrowding and improve services.
In order to serve prospective travelers and use the Eid holiday as a momentum to achieve the goal of domestic tourists’ mobility, Uno said, the ministry has collaborated with online travel agents to offer promotions for Eid homecoming tour packages, such as the Explore Indonesian Mosques during Exodus program, which was launched last week.
He further said he expected that the existence of mosques and tourism villages at a number of points on the routes passed by travelers would help reduce traffic congestion.
One of the routes that have many mosques and tourism villages, which are expected to become resting areas for travelers, is the Java Island southern coastline (Pansela).
"This is to break down congestion and crowds while ensuring the (travelers’) situation is in shape because, after traveling 12 hours, we have to stop at rest areas, tourism villages, mosques, or some spots that we recommend," the minister said.
On the same occasion, he asked the local tourism offices to supervise the situation at tourist attractions during the Eid holiday season.
