Jakarta (ANTARA) - Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian has asked regional governments to support the ratification of the Health Bill and its implementation once it is ratified to help realize a health transformation in Indonesia.

"We think we have to fully support health transformation (through the Health Bill) because, indeed, there are still many problems in the health sector," he said, according to a press release received on Monday.

He delivered the statement while chairing the Coordination Meeting for Regional Inflation Control and the Dissemination of Information on the Health Bill at the headquarters of the Ministry of Home Affairs here on Monday.

Karnavian appealed to regional governments to form a team chaired by the Health Office head in their respective regions to study the substance of the bill.

In addition, he appealed to governors to hold a meeting with district heads and mayors in their respective provinces to discuss the follow-up steps that need to be taken after the bill is ratified.

Then, for regional secretaries, he reminded them to regulate the application of the regulation in the field.

He emphasized that the health transformation cannot be carried out if it is only strived for by the Health Office heads in regions; it must be supported by the political will of the relevant regional heads.

"Thus, please form it from now, start to form a team to anticipate the implementation of the law so that our national health system and regions' (health system) can improve," he told regional governments.

At Monday's meeting, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin outlined various aspects regulated in the Health Bill.

According to him, the bill is an initiative of the House of Representatives that is being supported by the government because it is in line with the health transformation initiative.

Sadikin expressed the hope that regional governments would encourage all health offices and directors of regional public hospitals (RSUD) to support the Health Bill and ensure its implementation runs well.
