At the same location, Pupuk Indonesia's business transformation director, Panji Winanteya Ruky, said that his company is open to cooperation and investment opportunities from various parties.
This is because Pupuk Indonesia is currently developing petrochemical products that can lead to reduced carbon emissions, he informed in a statement released on Tuesday.
"For Hannover Messe 2023, we brought a plan to develop clean ammonia, namely blue ammonia and green ammonia. This is because they will be one of the green energy sources in the future," he said.
In addition to clean ammonia, Pupuk Indonesia will also develop a green industrial zone in the special economic zone (KEK) in Lhokseumawe, Aceh.
The area will be the location for using clean ammonia to generate new and renewable energy.
Through the clean ammonia push, Pupuk Indonesia is seeking to turn Indonesia into a hub for the global ammonia market in the future.
The company is also developing a number of other petrochemical products such as soda ash, liquid CO2, and methanol.
The derivative products from the fertilizer industry can be used by other industries and also help reduce Indonesia's dependence on imports.
"The development of clean ammonia and green industrial zone aligns with the global agenda on reducing carbon emissions. However, realizing this necessitates large investment and technological mastery from various parties," Ruky explained.
In addition to the green energy ecosystem, Pupuk Indonesia is also exhibiting the 10 best digital innovations at Hannover Messe.
These digital innovations have come from 3 of Pupuk Indonesia's subsidiaries: PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur, PT Pusri Palembang, and PT Petrokimia Gresik.
"Digitalization is part of the business transformation program of Pupuk Indonesia," he said.
"We are implementing this digitalization toward research, procurement, production, distribution, sales, and to develop talents that are ready for the digital age in the future," he added.
Digitalization is being undertaken at Pupuk Indonesia through the implementation of several cutting-edge technologies, such as robotics, simulation, the Internet of Things (IoT), cyber security, cloud computing, big data, virtual reality, and data analytics.
This digital ecosystem has been proven to produce a far more effective and efficient business process.
This has been evident in the improvement of Pupuk Indonesia's audited EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization), which reached Rp30.78 trillion (US$2.07 billion), or 224 percent higher than the Rp13.74 trillion target (US$924.18 million).
