“Today (April 19, 2023), me and National Police chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, visited East Java to monitor high-density locations during Eid homecoming. We must monitor a lot of locations," Sumadi said at Juanda International Airport in Sidoarjo, East Java, on Wednesday.
He urged state-owned airport operator, PT Angkasa Pura (AP), and airlines such as Garuda Indonesia, Lion Air, Citylink, and Batik Air to maintain their fleets.
"Airplanes must be checked to ensure their condition," he added.
On the same occasion, General Prabowo said that the peak of the homecoming flow started to be recorded on Wednesday.
"From 30 thousand passengers, now we have 45 thousand passengers," he informed.
He then reminded travelers to utilize the homecoming posts that have been prepared.
In addition, he asked the public to submit complaints at the post for the sake of their safety and comfort during homecoming.
"If the public wants to complain, they can immediately report to officers at the nearest post. Starting from health to security problems and other issues as well. The integrated homecoming post would be happy to serve them," he said.
Based on a review and his interactions with airplane passengers at Juanda Airport, the general informed that the travelers were in good condition with no complaints.
"Hopefully, in the next few days, all activities at Juanda Airport can run optimally. Even though the number of passengers is increasing," he said.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor of East Java, Emil Dardak, thanked Minister Sumadi and General Prabowo for carrying out collaboration to monitor the flow of homecoming in his region."On behalf of the East Java provincial government, we thank the National Police chief and the Minister of Transportation because the flow of passengers during homecoming is well-maintained," he said.
