Seat occupancy from train departures in the Jakarta Daop 1 area has reached 100 percent
Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) recorded that as many as 18,500 travelers departed from Gambir Station in Jakarta on Friday, with 38 train services operating.

"For Gambir Station, the volume of passengers departing today reached around 18,500, with 38 train services operating," Head of Public Relations of PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta Eva Chairunisa stated in Jakarta, Friday.

Meanwhile, travelers departing from Pasar Senen Station on the same day reached 24 thousand, with 32 train services operating.

"Seat occupancy from train departures in the Jakarta Daop 1 area has reached 100 percent," Chairunisa remarked.

In total, from D-10 to D-1 of Eid, which is predicted to fall on Saturday (Apr 22), 362 thousand train passengers departed aboard long-distance trains from Gambir and Pasar Senen stations.

Based on data as of today, 600 thousand tickets have been sold for departures from the Gambir and Pasar Senen stations, with most orders on preferred departure dates being April 14-23, 2023.

From the tickets sold on those dates, the passenger occupancy rate has reached 90-100 percent, with the highest volume of departing passengers recorded on April 18, 19, 20, and 21.

Preferred destination cities include Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Purwokerto, Kutoarjo, Semarang, Tegal, Solo, and Bandung.

Chairunisa reminded train passengers heading home to observe the rules on luggage, with a maximum weight of 20 kilograms or volume of 100 dm3, and maximum dimensions of 70 cm x 48 cm x 30 cm.

Baggage exceeding the specified size, up to a maximum weight of 40 kilograms or with a volume of 200 dm3, is allowed to be carried though subject to excess baggage fees or buying an extra seat.

Additional costs for baggage is for executive class at Rp 10 thousand per kilogram; business class, Rp6,000 per kilogram; and economy class, Rp2,000 per kilogram.

Moreover, train passengers are not allowed to carry certain items in their baggage, such as flammable and strong-smelling items, gunfire or sharp weapons, illegal drugs, and other additives, as well as pets.

"Train customers, who will travel using KAI services, are advised to arrive early at the departure station at least one hour before the train departs," Chairunisa stated.
