Labuan Bajo (ANTARA) - East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Police Chief Inspector General of Police Johanis Asadoma urged the local community of Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, to follow policies and regulations applied during the event of the 2023 ASEAN Summit.

"We seek people's understanding to comply with the policies as well as the police actions that we apply," Asadoma stated at Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai District, East Nusa Tenggara, on Friday.

The East Nusa Tenggara Police applied some policies that should be obeyed by the local community, so that the 2023 ASEAN Summit held in Labuan Bajo on May 9-11 will be successful.

One of the policies is diverting transportation flows with a contraflow system. The system regulates traffic by changing the average direction of vehicle flow on a highway. This is due to considerations for the moving of the heads of state delegations from one point of activity to another.

“Please comply with the regulations. If we closed it, do not force entry. Just follow what has been regulated by the traffic officer," he stated.

Furthermore, Asadoma urged people to not park their vehicles randomly at any location but rather at the designated area.

“For motorbikes and cars, park at a place that will not cause disturbance for the delegations' traffic. Do not park carelessly. If you already know the lane passed, do not park there," Asadoma stressed.

He expressed hope that maximum benefits can be garnered from the international event for the local community and all parties, so that Indonesia, especially Labuan Bajo, would become more renowned, and the summit would run successfully.

"This is concrete support, so that the event can run safely, orderly, and without any disturbances, so that we can be successful as the host of this very prestigious ASEAN Summit," Asadoma stated.
