Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggar (ANTARA) - The spouses of five ASEAN heads of state have confirmed their participation in the Spouse Program of the 42nd ASEAN Summit, which will take place on May 10, 2023, in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara.

"One of the Spouse Program agendas is morning tea; as of now, it has been confirmed that (the spouses of) five heads of state will participate, but their countries will be checked again," secretary of the Directorate General of Public Information and Communication of the Communication and Information Ministry, Sumiati, said here on Tuesday.

The Puncak Waringin building in Labuan Bajo has been prepared as the venue for the Spouse Program, where spouses of ASEAN heads of state attending the summit will gather.

The activity is scheduled to take place at 8 a.m. local time on May 10.

According to the plan, the spouses of ASEAN heads of state attending the program will get a red carpet welcome in front of the Puncak Waringin courtyard.

In the Puncak Waringin area, they will get to see an exhibition of products made by micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), such as woven cloth, coffee, and moringa businesses.

In addition, there will be dance and music performances followed by a buggy car ride to the top of Puncak Waringin. At the top, the spouses will enjoy morning tea and take a group photo.

The event is a closed gathering and will last for an hour, Sumiati said.

Meanwhile, 26 national and local media journalists visited Labuan Bajo to witness the preparations for the 42nd ASEAN Summit on Tuesday. The journalists’ visit was held to disseminate information on Indonesia’s readiness for the summit.
