The strength of the Indonesian workforce is increasing day by day, so the government must seek to provide around 3.6 million job opportunities per year.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The revitalization of vocational education and training is essential for welcoming the demographic bonus expected in Indonesia in 2030, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy has said.

“The revitalization of vocational education and training is part of attempts to optimize the demographic bonus," he stressed in a press release received on Wednesday.

He said that the revitalization is aimed at ensuring that vocational education and training programs are in accordance with industry needs.

"The strength of the Indonesian workforce is increasing day by day, so the government must seek to provide around 3.6 million job opportunities per year," he added.

The coordinating minister said he expects the revitalization to help create a productive and prosperous workforce who will advance Indonesia and help it become a developed country.

"Hence, the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture is encouraging collaboration among industry players, business actors, the government, and employment agencies to optimize various strategic programs to face the demographic bonus," he continued.

He also stated that the implementation of vocational education and training has run optimally so far.

The government issued Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 68 regarding the revitalization of vocational education and training in 2022 to bolster the development of skilled and productive human resources.

"In accordance with the mandate of Perpres Number 68 of 2022, all parties and stakeholders continue to cooperate to develop a quality generation to realize an advanced Indonesia, while the vocational education and training revitalization program has been running according to the target," Effendy noted.

He then lauded all industry actors who have collaborated with educational institutions to improve the abilities and skills of students.

"The impacts of the partnership between industry and education stakeholders are becoming increasingly apparent throughout Indonesia through various training programs," he highlighted.

Earlier, Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah said that from 2017 to 2022, her ministry allocated budgets for the establishment of Community Vocational Training Centers (BLKs) across Indonesia.

She informed that 3,757 Community BLKs have been built as of 2022.
