The collaboration with the ADB Institute will help us improve our cooperation network and capacity to establish a smart and sustainable Nusantara city.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Institute have agreed to strengthen cooperation on knowledge sharing, research, and development to make Indonesia’s future capital, Nusantara, a smart and sustainable city.

"The collaboration with the ADB Institute will help us improve our cooperation network and capacity to establish a smart and sustainable Nusantara city," the head of OIKN, Bambang Susantono, said in a press release issued on Thursday.

The collaboration agreement was outlined in a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed in Incheon, South Korea, by Susantono and the dean as well as the CEO of ADB Institute, Tetsushi Sonobe.

The collaboration will include the implementation, facilitation, and co-sponsoring of joint events, workshops, capacity building, and training to address development issues.

Furthermore, the cooperation will encourage research on several strategic issues, including livable cities, sustainable development goals, gender equality, rural development, food security, sub-national-level governance and institutional capacity, disaster resilience, and climate change.

The OIKN and ADB Institute will also collaborate in carrying out the joint publication of academic journals, books, reports, blogs, e-learning outputs, podcast episodes, reports, and other knowledge products.

In addition, the two parties will collaborate on funding these cooperation activities.

Sonobe said that his party welcomed the collaboration.

“The ADB Institute is ready to provide support (for IKN development) and share our experiences. We believe that this collaboration can encourage a sustainable, inclusive, and resilient development," he added.

Earlier, deputy for funding and investment at OIKN, Agung Wicaksono, said that, as of April 10, 2023, his party has recorded 182 Letters of Intent (LOI) submissions from business actors originating from 16 countries.

Meanwhile, Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono stated that, on average, the realization of development in IKN Nusantara reached 25 percent as of early April.

He informed that his ministry is currently building a number of facilities in the Central Government Core Area (KIPP).

The facilities include the presidential office, presidential palace, offices for the four coordinating ministers, ministerial housing complexes, toll roads, arterial roads, dams, national axis, a wastewater treatment plant (IPAL), waste treatment installations, and drinking water treatment plants.
