Depok, West Java (ANTARA) - The University of Indonesia (UI) and the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) engaged in cooperation in the areas of education, research, and community services to advance development of the new capital.

A memorandum of understanding on the cooperation was also signed between UI Rector Professor Ari Kuncoro and Capital Authority Head Bambang Susantono.

In his written statement on Saturday, Kuncoro remarked that the new capital is expected to become the research headquarters and the place where researchers and lecturers across Indonesia and the world share their knowledge and collaborate in research.

“(We expect) the new capital to be an inspiration for researchers to contribute their ideas and thoughts and to downstream their research for Indonesia's development,” Kuncoro stated.

The cooperation between the two parties encompasses various aspects, including digitization of development and management of the new capital as well as aspects pertaining to education, research, and community services in addition to implementation of innovative and useful technologies for the transformation, development digitization, and management of Nusantara City.

It also includes cooperation in the development of human resources through education and training and the development of human resources' potential through research and studies.

“The MoU aims to increase cooperation between the two parties in the education, research, and community services aspects,” the UI rector affirmed.

Meanwhile, Susantono stated that the commitment between his side and the university would be the first step for further collaboration on various aspects that can be developed and implemented.

“Moreover, it will relate to various breakthroughs and innovation in the knowledge and technological development aspects as well as to various nature-based solutions for modern and sustainable planning and development of Nusantara City,” the OIKN head stated.
