Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's national crafts are still the master in their own home and should be supported to ensure their recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the National Crafts Council (Dekranas).

"According to the statistical data, in general, national crafts remain the master in their own home, primarily for products used daily, such as those used in households," Dekranas Executive Head Tri Tito Karnavian stated during a dialogue to commemorate the 43rd Anniversary of Dekranas on Friday (May 12), as quoted from the statement on Saturday.

Tri remarked that the agency is ready to be the government's partner to support the crafters, thereby enabling them to contribute to the national economy.

Dekranas is cooperating with 13 government ministries and institutions to increase competitiveness, improve business management, establish new businesses, and help the publication and funding of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the executive head explained.

"The crafters are expected to be better and recover after the COVID-19 pandemic, and Dekranas will be the government's partner to realize the roles of crafters as a component to bolster the national economy," she noted.

Meanwhile, Dekranas' 43rd Anniversary Commemoration committee head Endang Budi Karya stated that the dialogue took place ahead of the peak of the commemorative event expected on May 16 in Medan, North Sumatra.

She said that before the peak event, various activities that took place to support MSMEs, include business license application assistance, online seminars, development of Entrepreneur Hub by the Trade Ministry, and support for MSMEs by the Ministry of Co-operatives and Small and Medium Enterprises.

"The background theme and the spirit upheld for this year's Dekranas anniversary is consistent with the Dekranas mission to realize the regeneration of advanced crafters to explore and preserve the nation's cultural heritage," Endang stated.
