"Our task is to facilitate and help business activities, such as Angkasa Pura I, to be comfortable in the province, to make them feel like this is their second home," Zulkieflimansyah said here on Saturday.
The provincial government is ready to help businesses to operate smoothly in the province, he added.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the provincial government and Angkasa Pura I was signed by Zulkieflimansyah and Fahmi in Jakarta on Friday (May 12, 2023).
The governor said he expected that the cooperation on utilizing the abandoned airport’s assets would help boost tourism and the economy in Lombok.
One of the plans is to make the former airport a venue for the Grand Prix Motocross Circuit (MXGP) as a first step toward turning the area into a MICE and sports tourism center in West Nusa Tenggara.
Meanwhile, Fahmi expressed his gratitude to the provincial government for managing the assets and utilizing the airport's land. MXGP Lombok will be held in July 2023.
"Thank you to the West Nusa Tenggara provincial government for maintaining and utilizing the former Selaparang Airport and for being willing to carry out this cooperation," he remarked.
Fahmi said that he sees many opportunities for the asset’s utilization, as the airport’s location is very strategic and it can be used for the MXGP event.
He further said that he expects the cooperation to help the provincial government in encouraging tourism and economic growth by utilizing the land asset of 60 hectares located in the city center.
"Alhamdulillah (Thank God), this MoU is the starting point for many cooperations in the future," Fahmi remarked.
