Jakarta (ANTARA) - The 18th Asia Media Summit (AMS) 2023 is expected to strengthen Bali’s position as a world-class MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) destination, Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said here on Tuesday.

The Asia Media Summit is also expected to affect economic recovery and job creation.

The summit, which will be held on May 23 and 24, 2023, will be attended by more than 300 participants from countries in the Asia-Pacific.

The Asia Media Summit is an annual international conference for media in countries around the Asia-Pacific. It is organized by the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD).

According to a written statement, AIBD members from 500 global broadcasting institutions, professionals in the field of media, academicians, as well as regulators from countries in the Asia-Pacific are scheduled to attend the summit.

In addition to joining the meeting, the participants will also take a tour of Bali.

Tourism Products and Event Organizing Deputy at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Vinsensius Jemadu said that the ministry will strive to create a good image and impression on attending delegations.

One of the methods to do this will be providing souvenirs to participants in the form of products from tourism and creative economy micro, small, and medium enterprises in Bali.

"Thus, we gathered 500 souvenirs from MSMEs to be distributed to all delegations," he said.

For the Asia Media Summit 2023, public broadcasting institution TVRI acted as the host. president director of TVRI, Iman Brotoseno, said that Bali was chosen as the venue for the summit due to its relevance to the tourism sector.

"We talked about changes in the media ecosystem, including discussing the role of media toward post-pandemic economic recovery yesterday," he informed.

“Thus, we pick Bali because it is relevant and it has a tourism sector (that was affected by the pandemic)," he explained.

Since all broadcasting institutions will attend the event, it is expected that it will provide insights into the development and growth of tourism that is reviving in Indonesia, he added.
