Jakarta (ANTARA) - State electricity company PT PLN (Persero) established cooperation with Chinese engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company, China Communications Construction Dredging Co., Ltd (CCCC), in Beijing, on Sunday, for the development of new and renewable energy.

This agreement aims to expedite the development of renewable energy plants as well as to agree on the development of energy transition cooperation with Indonesia.

President Director of PLN Darmawan Prasodjo, while conducting a site visit to the company as quoted from the statement on Monday, stated that PLN is expediting the development of renewable energy power plants.

These include the development of a hydroelectric power plant, solar power plant, wind power generator, as well as pumped storage power plant in Indonesia.

PLN expects that cooperation with the company can expedite the energy transition process from fossil energy to renewable energy to achieve the net zero emission (NZE) target by 2050.

"The cooperation that had been established between PLN and CCCC is expected to expedite the development of renewable power plants. With this, Indonesia can accelerate the energy transition process even further," Prasodjo stated.

According to Prasodjo, PLN stands to benefit from CCCC's wealth of experience by being able to absorb knowledge from the company.

They can also discuss as well as collaborate for the development of renewable energy infrastructure, liquid natural gas (LNG), and terminal for gasification.

CCCC is a company that has been involved in several major projects in China and abroad.

Several of its biggest projects include the construction of Hangzhou Bay Bridge, the biggest seaport in the world located in Shanghai, as well as construction of the Three Gorges Dam in China.

"This cooperation agreement can improve investors' trust. A solid cooperation between PLN and CCCC is expected to strengthen economic relations between China and Indonesia," Prasodjo remarked.
