Jakarta (ANTARA) - Acting Minister of Communication and Informatics (Menkominfo) Mahfud MD held his first meeting with the ministry’s echelon I officials on Monday.

Mahfud said that, during the meeting, he was apprised of the core duties and functions of each official, what is currently being done, and the problems they are facing.

He listened to presentations from two directorate generals, he added at the ministry's media center here on Monday.

No further information was shared regarding the coordination meeting and, according to Mahfud, the discussion will continue on Tuesday.

In relation to his tasks as the acting minister, Mahfud informed at the Presidential Palace Complex on Monday morning that he will induct four echelon I officials into the ministry.

During the press conference at the ministry's media center, he said that the inauguration of the echelon I officials was scheduled before he took office.

Thus, the inauguration is unrelated to the recent graft case at the ministry.

"It is not because of this incident that they have been replaced. It (Their appointment) was proposed way before this, and I only have to inaugurate them tomorrow," he said.

The four echelon I officials from the ministry are scheduled to be inaugurated at 11 a.m. local time on Tuesday.

Mahfud, who is the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, was officially appointed as the acting minister of communication and informatics by President Joko Widodo recently.

His appointment was based on Presidential Decree (Keppres) No. 41/P of 2023 dated on May 19, 2023.

According to the decree, Mahfud has been appointed as the acting minister of communication and informatics to ensure the smooth running of the ministry until a definitive minister is chosen.
