The summit was hosted in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on May 9–11, 2023.
"We are currently arranging the report. Earlier in the morning, I reviewed the report on MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises)," Uno informed during "The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno" in Jakarta on Monday.
Initially, the government had set the turnover target at Rp2 million per pax for the summit, he said. However, the attendance of additional delegates is likely to have resulted in an increase in the total spending, he added.
"It turned out that we had additional delegates. Hence, the total spending is expected to increase by 20–25 percent. We are still calculating the final figures," he disclosed.
Regarding delegates who spent more nights in Labuan Bajo after the summit, Minister Uno said that they enjoyed exploring areas around Labuan Bajo, such as Pink Beach and Rinca Island where they could observe the komodo dragons.
In the creative economy sector, Labuan Bajo offered NTT's typical beautiful woven fabrics and Bajawa coffee to delegates.
As reported earlier, the foreign exchange generated in the tourism and creative economy sectors during the 42nd Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Labuan Bajo was estimated to have reached Rp15.8 billion
According to the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry, the summit was attended by 585 foreign visitors, 45 of whom were journalists.
The estimate of Rp15.8 billion was obtained based on data provided by Statistics Indonesia (BPS) regarding the average spending of international tourists with regard to meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) as well as business visits to Labuan Bajo during the 2019–2021 period.
