Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has named the seventh suspect in the alleged corruption case involving the installation of base transceiver stations (BTS) and supporting infrastructure by the Communication and Informatics Ministry in 2020–2022.

Head of the Legal Information Center of the AGO Ketut Sumedana identified the newest suspect as WP, a confidant of Irwan Hermawan (IH) of PR Solitechmedia Synergy.

Before he was named a suspect, WP was arrested at Yogyakarta's Adisutjipto Airport, he informed. At the time of arrest, WP’s status was that of a witness in the case.

“An investigator team from Special Criminal Affairs, Yogyakarta attorney team, and Kulon Progo state prosecutor office have detained WP, the witness," he said.

After the arrest, WP was transferred to the AGO Special Criminal Affairs' building in Jakarta for further process, he said.

Sumedana informed that WP's status was changed from a witness to a suspect by investigators as per letter number TAP-05/F.2/Fd.2/05/2023 issued on May 23, 2023.

The investigators will detain WP for 20 days, from May 23 to June 11, at Salemba Prison in South Jakarta, he added.

He informed that WP acted as IH's confidant and established contact with other parties linked to the BTS and supporting infrastructure project corruption case.

"Due to the act, WP allegedly violated Article 3 and 4 of Law Number 8 of 2010 about the Prevention and Eradication of Money Laundering Crime, in conjunction with Article 55 Number (1) first of the Criminal Code," he elaborated.

WP is the newest suspect in the corruption case involving the Communication and Informatics Ministry.
