"We really hope that the Constitutional Court would make thorough preparations, so that it can become a fair arbiter for those who are in dispute, whether it (concerns) disputes in the legislative elections, presidential elections, or regional elections," Jokowi stated.
Speaking during the Special Plenary Session of the MK with the agenda for submitting the 2022 Annual Report in Jakarta on Wednesday, Jokowi also pushed for the quality of MK's decision to be reflected from the speed at which it was issued.
According to the head of state, justice delayed too long is an injustice.
"We have to work hard, so that we can make the 2024 simultaneous elections a place to prove the quality of Indonesian democracy as well as elect trustworthy leaders to achieve national and state goals," Jokowi stated.
In addition, he said that the government is grateful to the constitutional judges and the supporting staff at the MK for having upheld the Constitutional law or Constitutional justice.
According to Jokowi, the constitutional law is a key element of democracy, human rights (HAM), and legal certainty.
"Indeed, the government does not always agree with the views of the Constitutional Court, but the government always accepts, respects, and implements the decisions of the Constitutional Court. The government is sure that the life of our country will be well organized if it is carried out based on the constitution," Jokowi affirmed.
Furthermore, he believes that the MK has and will continue to make the best efforts to safeguard the Indonesian nation's constitution.
"I believe the Constitutional Court has and will continue to work hard to safeguard the constitution and guard democracy in order to provide a better life for all Indonesian people," Jokowi said in his concluding remarks.
The MK held a Special Plenary Session with the agenda of submitting the 2022 Annual Report. Chief of MK Anwar Usman elaborated on the report regarding applications registered, examined, and decided by the court as well as financial management and other administrative tasks.
"By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim (In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful) , the special plenary session of the Constitutional Court, with the agenda for submitting the 2022 Annual Report, was opened and declared open to the public," Usman remarked.
