"Appropriate technologies are expected to be able to process the entire potential that exists in villages," he noted while opening the XXIV 2023 National Appropriate Technology Exhibition (GTTGN) here on Wednesday.
"Because of this, Village Fund is also used for training and procurement of appropriate technologies, primarily ones needed by entrepreneurs in villages," he remarked.
This aligns with the 18th point in the Village Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely dynamic village institution and adaptive village culture.
The minister stated that Law No. 6 of 2014 on Village had highlighted the need to use appropriate technologies on four instances.
It is first stipulated in Article 26, Point 2 which states that in governing villages, developing villages, guiding the public, and empowering villagers, village chiefs should utilize apt technologies.
It is also mentioned in Article 80, Point 2 which states that the development and use of appropriate technologies should be considered when village governments determine program priorities and village development activities in village deliberations.
It is indicated for the third time in Article 83, Point 3, which states that the development of villages should also be conducted through the development and use of apposite technologies.
It is again stipulated in Article 112, Point 3, which states that developing and empowering villagers should also be done through the implementation of science and technology development results, appropriate technologies, and new findings.
This is done for the advancement of villagers' economy and agriculture.
The emphasis in the Village Law's articles shows the importance of appropriate technologies to realize village independence, the minister highlighted.
Under the course of village development policies, the development through the use of appropriate technologies is the realization of the ninth goal of SDGs, namely infrastructure and innovation according to need, he stated.
