"And by saying the name of Allah, tonight I officially open Jakarta Fair Kemayoran 2023," he remarked.
The President arrived at the main stage area around 7:10 p.m. local time. He was accompanied by the Acting Governor of Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono.
Widodo, who was dressed in black and brown batik, was welcomed by guests and the ambassadors of friendly countries.
He said the Jakarta Fair Kemayoran is awaited every year by Jakarta residents and marks the anniversary of Jakarta, which falls on June 22.
The head of state said that this year marks the fair’s 54th implementation.
"Last year, it was visited by 6.9 million visitors with transactions of Rp7.3 trillion (US$490.4 million). A huge figure. Therefore, on this good occasion I would like to wish you a happy 496th anniversary of the city of Jakarta," he remarked.
The Jakarta Fair Kemayoran will be held for 33 days from June 14 to July 16, 2023, at the Jakarta International Expo (JiExpo) Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.
According to the marketing director of JiExpo Kemayoran, Ralph Scheunemann, this year's fair has drawn 2,500 companies, with 1,500 booths exhibiting flagship products and offering discounts.
"There are 2,500 company tenants with 1,500 booths, and what is interesting is that it is 60 percent private firms and 40 percent micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs)," Scheunemann informed.
The General Manager of PT JiExpo Oki Setiawan said that the price of entrance tickets for the Jakarta Fair this year is the same as last year’s, with the cheapest tickets priced at Rp50 thousand.
The entrance tickets are of two types this year, one for the exhibition alone and another has been bundled with a music concert ticket.
