Bandung, West Java (ANTARA) - The Manpower and Transmigration Office of West Java has asked companies in the province to employ people living with disabilities to provide access to formal work to them.

"For the formal sector, we encourage companies to employ workers with disabilities. Because in addition to there being many (of them) in West Java, the potential is also big," the office's head, Rachmat Taufik Garsadi, said when contacted on Friday.

One of the efforts made by the West Java provincial government to provide disabled people access to work has been the organization of the 2023 Digital Marketing Technical Training for People with Disabilities in Bandung City, he added.

The event, which was held from June 14 to 16, 2023, in cooperation with the Business Incubator Center of Padjadjaran University (Unpad), involved 80 people living with disabilities who own or have started their own businesses.

The participants in the technical training were provided training materials, which covered topics ranging from the fundamentals of digital marketing to copywriting techniques.

By participating in the training, people living with disabilities can get insights, skills, and knowledge on how to market their products by using digital marketing, Garsadi said.

"Digital marketing is very beneficial for the current condition, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is also hoped that this training can also expand the coverage of the products' marketing," he added.

In addition, the office expressed the hope that the skills improvement event for people with disabilities will continue to be held in West Java.

That effort is a form of support for people with disabilities to help them compete with others and improve their welfare.

"Of course, we will continue to carry it out. Hopefully, there will be more people with disabilities who become entrepreneurs," he said.
