Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s best talents are expected to join the World Bank Group (WBG) and develop their career, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati said in an official statement released on Thursday.

In its efforts to drive long-term economic growth, Indonesia, as a member of the World Bank, has a major opportunity to benefit from WBG’s human resources improvement program.

Working at institutions such as the World Bank would not only provide Indonesians a good career opportunity, but also help them understand and get involved with people and staff from many different countries.

Such experiences could also open up professional opportunities for them to obtain developmental experience in various countries, she noted during a 'Town Hall on Global Economic Prospects and Building a Career at the World Bank' event.

The World Bank plays a very important role in handling global challenges and providing services to member countries.

The global community has asked the World Bank to improve support, not just for handling poverty, but also for tackling issues related to climate change, the coronavirus pandemic, and economic reformation and strengthening, she said.

Therefore, WBG has an important role in providing not only development funding, but also knowledge and experience to developing countries, she said.

According to Indrawati, quality human resources will help make the World Bank work more efficiently and effectively, whether with the government, policymakers, research groups, the private sector, or other development institutions collaboratively.

Thus, young talented Indonesian staff must apply and participate in pursuing a career at the international finance institution.

The presence of Indonesian youngsters at the World Bank is expected to directly contribute to the global effort to reach poor and vulnerable communities, improve development impact, and catalyze global action.

The minister urged potential workers to use their time wisely, involve themselves in positive and productive activities, and choose institutions that are not only financially beneficial, but also provide experience and wisdom.
