Micro enterprises and SMEs dominate the economic structure in Indonesia, he noted during the "Legal Aid and Assistance Service Optimization for Micro and Small Enterprises National Seminar," which was streamed on Friday.
Still, because of their characteristics, micro and small enterprises still encounter a number of problems in developing their businesses, including legal issues linked to bad credit, debt, and default.
On account of this, the Job Creation Law and Government Regulation No. 7 of 2021 have mandated the government with providing protection access — in this case, legal access — to them.
One of the ways this is being implemented is through the provision of legal services to micro and small enterprises.
He said he expected that the national seminar, which was attended by representatives from a number of ministries and institutions, would provide an understanding and the best solutions for the advancement of micro and small enterprises in Indonesia.
"For that, this cannot be done alone; there should be a real synergy and collaboration to provide legal literacy and legal aid and assistance service that can be utilized by entrepreneurs," he said.
On the occasion, Micro Enterprise Deputy at the Cooperatives and SMEs Ministry Yulius said that the national seminar, which was held in a hybrid format, was one of the efforts in the upstream domain to carry out the mandate of Government Regulation No. 7 of 2021.
A similar mandate has also been outlined in the Cooperatives and SMEs Minister’s Regulation No. 3 of 2021.
The government is striving to respond to and help SMEs and cooperatives by providing legal umbrella access and legal assistance.
