Jakarta (ANTARA) - Sales of tickets for the 2023 Federation Internationale de Basketball (FIBA) World Cup opened online on the federation's website at 6 p.m. Western Indonesian Standard Time (WIB) on Tuesday.

During a press conference at the Indonesia Arena Jakarta on Tuesday, FIBA representative to Indonesia, Cahyadi Wanda, said that the cheapest tickets have been priced at Rp100 thousand (US$7) to allow all levels of Indonesian society to enjoy international-level basketball matches in Jakarta.

"The launch of these single game tickets rebuts the notion that the 2023 FIBA World Cup experience is only affordable for certain circles in society," he added.

According to Wanda, affordably ticket pricing is an effort to open world-class basketball matches to all Indonesians, eliminating the need for spending higher amounts of money to go abroad to view such matches.

The World Cup's organizer in Indonesia has grouped tickets into five categories: 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, 4, and 5. Seats in the 1A and 1B categories have been priced at Rp1.25 million (US$82.5) and Rp2.5 million (US$165), respectively.

The 1A seats are located in the lowest row at the edge of the court, while 1B seats are the closest to the court, but located behind the rings.

Tickets for 2A and 2B seats have been priced in the range of Rp500 thousand (US$33) to Rp1.75 million (US$115), and 3A and 3B tickets from Rp200 thousand (US$13) to Rp500 thousand.

Meanwhile, the category 4 seats, which are in the topmost tribune at the edge of the court, are being sold for Rp125 thousand (US$8) to Rp200 thousand.

The cheapest tickets, priced at Rp100 thousand to Rp150 thousand (US$10), are for category 5 seats, which are located in the tribunes behind the rings.

According to the FIBA representative, the pricing is very affordable for World Cup-level basketball matches.

"I believe the prices are very affordable, especially considering this competition constitutes the highest level of the world's basketball tournament. Hopefully, the prices will attract many more basketball fans to come to the Indonesia Arena," he said.

He then informed that the ticket prices will also be adjusted according to the countries playing in each match.

Fans can reserve tickets on FIBA's official website and complete the payment using several payment applications, such as Ovo, Dana, ShopeePay, and LinkAja.

The FIBA 2023 World Cup will take place in three Asian countries: Indonesia, the Philippines, and Japan. Indonesia will host World Cup matches from August 25 until September 3, 2023, at the Indonesia Arena at Gelora Bung Karno sports complex, Jakarta.
