The officials installed two supporting buffers at the bottom of the bridge and repaired the rail sleepers.
While the repair work was on, some trains moving in either direction were allowed to pass at very low speeds.
According to the public relations manager of PT KAI, Semarang Operational Area 4, Ixfan Hendri Wintoko, the railway firm suffered a number of losses due to the incident, such as damage to locomotives, rails, and bridges.
He said that PT KAI may sue the truck operator involved in the accident.
"Charges will be filed if it is proven that the driver is at fault," he added.
Meanwhile, head of the traffic unit of the Semarang City Police, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Yunaldi, said the truck was headed to pick up cargo from the Semarang Old Town area.
The investigation into the accident is still on, he added.
On Tuesday night, a KA Brantas train plying from Jakarta to Blitar hit a truck stuck on a railway level crossing on Madukoro Street, West Semarang.
When the locomotive hit the front of the truck, it also set off an explosion.
According to Yunaldi, police officers will speak with an expert to determine how the truck got stuck in the middle of the railway crossing.
Meanwhile, he said, the investigation of the truck driver, identified by his initials as HS, is still ongoing.
The police are also planning to speak with the Brantas train driver and guards who were stationed nearby.
The driver, who has been declared as a witness, did not run away, but ran to a safer place before turning himself in, Yunaldi said.
