"Thus, it is expected that with good and comprehensive knowledge of the process, the government's target to pursue halal certification for all restaurants and other businesses can really be achieved," he said in a statement received on Friday.
He made the statement in response to several reports received by the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional People's Representatives Councils (DPRD) regarding the lack of understanding among business players about the halal product registration and certification process.
Apart from the dissemination of information, he also asked the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises and the BPJPH to assist micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in registering their products and obtaining halal certificates.
According to him, this step is important to take so that local MSMEs can compete and not be left behind in global competition.
He also asked the government to commit to providing education, training, and assistance to MSME players who are facing problems in obtaining halal certification.
"This is needed because halal certification has become a trend not only domestically in Indonesia but also a global trend that becomes an important standard in the industry sector and trade of products internationally," Soesatyo said.
