"We (the ministry) consistently push for pro-people programs, including the One Million Houses Program to provide all Indonesian people with decent housing," Director General of Housing at the ministry Iwan Suprijanto said here on Sunday.
He said the government consistently pushes the One Million Houses Program to meet the citizens' needs of habitable places.
As of the first semester of 2023, 480,438 houses had been built in the program, including 420,645 units for low-income people, and 59,793 others for those from the non-low income group.
He expected that until the end of this year, there will be more houses that can be developed by considering the people's needs of housing, he added.
He also demanded an active participation from regional government and relevant stakeholders —such as house developers, ministries, institutions, banks, and private sectors— in building decent houses.
The directorate general also urged Housing Center (BP2P) to collect data of housing developments on regional scale, he added.
The ministry's directorate general of housing recorded that, 201,846 of the 480,438 houses were built by the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry; 5,711 units were provided by other ministries and government agencies; and 16,688 units are provided by regional governments, he said.
Moreover, 183,207 were built by developers that are not registered with the house financing facility (FLPP); 776 units were provided by companies as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR); and 12,417 other units by communities, he added.
