Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Police (Polri) will establish an Anti-Money Politic Task Force to prevent the unlawful practice during the implementation of the 2024 general elections.

"Polri will establish an Anti-Money Politic Task Force," a spokesperson of the Indonesian Police Insp. Gen. Sandi Nugroho stated here on Wednesday.

Nugroho affirmed that the task force will work to anticipate public disorder caused by money politics.

Various steps have been prepared to secure the elections and ensure a conducive situation in its implementation.

The police is ready to launch Operation Mantap Brata to secure the upcoming general election, he remarked.

It is also tasked with countering hoaxes and preventing identity politics and public polarization.

"We were ordered by the Indonesian Police Chief to prepare our personnel, facilities, communication with the public, and communication with other stakeholders," he remarked.

The police will also form a Nusantara Task Force to serve as a placating system to maintain public order and ensure a peaceful election, the spokesman elaborated.

"The key for a healthy and good election is security. With this Insya Allah (God willing), we can complete all steps of the elections," he remarked.

Indonesia is scheduled to hold general elections on February 14, 2024.

The country will elect the president, vice president, members of the House of Representatives (DPR), Regional Representatives Council (DPD), and members of local legislative bodies.
