We promote MRT as one of the convenient and safe modes of public transportation in Jakarta
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Provincial Government promoted Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) through the 2023 Jakarta Half Marathon (JHM) held at the Southeast Cross of the National Monument (Monas).

"We promote MRT as one of the convenient and safe modes of public transportation in Jakarta," Acting Governor of Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono stated here on Sunday after launching the 2023 JHM run.

Hartono noted that this promotion was aimed at making the half-marathon participants understand and sense the progress of the intelligent transport system (ITS) in Jakarta.

He vowed to continue to hold sports events to strengthen synergy between the Jakarta Provincial Government and stakeholders.

On the same occasion, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said he felt the participants' enthusiasm for exercising.

"I think this can be a routine event, not just once a year, but several times," he stated.

Head of the Jakarta Youth and Sports Office Andriansyah believes that this activity can be a way for Jakartans to channel their hobby of running.

He explained that the JHM is a running event that has garnered the International Measurement Certificate from World Athletics in collaboration with the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).

"We synergized with the regional apparatus organizations (OPDs) of the Jakarta Provincial Government and coordinated with the Law and Human Rights Ministry to obtain intellectual rights for the Jakarta Half Marathon," Andriansyah explained.

The 2023 JHM was also held to support Indonesia's Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2023 and the 78th Anniversary of Indonesia's independence.

More than 9,700 participants took part in this year's JHM in three categories, namely 5K, 10K, and 21K. Most of the runners, reaching 4,500 people, participated in the 5K run.

This event was supported by PT MRT Jakarta and Bank DKI.
