Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has begun the construction of 47 flat towers for state apparatus (ASN) in the Nusantara National Capital.

"The PUPR Ministry started the construction of 47 flats for state apparatus and public security and defense personnel in the Nusantara National Capital, East Kalimantan," the ministry's Director General of Housing, Iwan Suprijanto, remarked here on Monday.

He noted that the flats are being constructed to support the gradual transfer of civil servants that will start in 2024.

"The construction of 47 flat towers has been started using the state budget funds worth Rp9.4 trillion (US$614 million)," he stated.

According to Suprijanto, the construction of other flats will also be conducted by utilizing the funding sourced from the Public Private Partnership (PPP) scheme.

He explained that the 47 flat towers have a total of 2,820 units, with each unit being 98 square meters. A total of 31 towers are for state apparatus, seven for the National Police and the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) personnel, and nine for the Presidential Guard Force (Paspampres).

"Each tower has 12 floors. Floors 1 and 2 will be used for public facilities, and the other 10 floors are for residential floors," he stated.

The construction of 47 flats for state apparatus and public security and defense personnel is targeted to be completed by December 2024.

The flats are located in the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) and IKN sub-WP 1A, with a total area of 45.91 hectares.

"The ministry has a duty to ensure the availability of infrastructure and facilities in Nusantara, and the Nusantara Authority (OIKN) will regulate the details of the flat tower occupancy," he stated.
