According to his statement received here, the super grid development can reduce inter-island intermittent electricity while strengthening clean energy-based interconnectivity throughout the country.
"The interconnectivity (super grid) will optimize the use of renewable energy sources and create a sustainable energy system throughout Indonesia," he remarked.
Minister Tasrif said the energy cooperation between the ASEAN and China continues to experience positive growth amid various global challenges.
ASEAN is considered to be a strategic development partner, and cooperation with its partners is expected to contribute to the region's economy.
"This integration is expected to bring benefits for the development of clean energy transition in ASEAN that has convincing potential," he remarked.
He said that the super grid development must pay attention to Indonesia's geographical condition. According to the minister, Indonesia, as an archipelagic country, has more than 3,600 gigawatts (GW) in potential of renewable energy resources.
"A total of 4.7 GW of solar power will be developed until 2030. Meanwhile, the long-term target (for solar power development) is 421 GW by 2060," he explained.
Meanwhile, Tasrif stressed the essential role of natural gas in accelerating clean energy transition in Indonesia.
The government continues to optimize natural gas utilization through several programs, such as the development of integrated gas transmission and distribution, construction of infrastructure and facilities comprising the floating storage regasification units, refineries and terminals of liquid natural gas, and conversion of diesel fuel into gas.
"We open opportunities for Chinese gas companies to invest in gas development in Indonesia," the minister stated.
