Shaoxing (ANTARA) - The Indonesian speed climbing team won silver in both the women's and men's speed relay events at the 19th Asian Games after being defeated by China in the final match in Shaoxing, China, on Wednesday.

Indonesian women's speed climbing team, comprising Nurul Iqamah, Rajiah Sallsabillah, and Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi, advanced to the gold medal race after beating South Korea with a record time of 21.869 seconds.

Meanwhile, the Chinese women's speed climbing team of Zhang Shaoqin, Niu Di, and Deng Lijuan easily defeated the Kazakh team in the semifinals with a record time of 23.318 seconds, finishing nearly 10 seconds faster than their opponents.

The Kazakh team struggled to find their footing and lacked speed, giving the Chinese team a comfortable victory.

In the final match of the women's speed climbing event, Dewi and Sallsabillah took the lead after the second climb.

However, Iqamah slipped on the way to the finish, allowing the home athlete to win the race with a record time of 20.925 seconds, 3.5 seconds faster than the Indonesian team's time of 23.506 seconds.

The women's speed relay bronze medal went to South Korea, who beat Kazakhstan with a record of 26.901 seconds.

Earlier, the Indonesian men's speed climbing team lost out on the gold medal as they were disqualified from the final match against China on Wednesday due to a false start by one of the climbers, Kiromal Katibin, in the second climb.
