Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah stated here Tuesday that state-owned enterprises (SOEs) play a role in building harmonious industrial relations.

Fauziyah noted that state-owned corporations also serve the public's interest at the national level in addition to generating profits for themselves.

"Therefore, it is right for state-owned companies to be the driving force of the national economy and as a model for the implementation of industrial relations for other companies," she remarked.

At the Forum of Industrial Relations Dispute Resolution Strategy within SOEs, themed "Harmony in SOEs' Industrial Relations, Harmony for Indonesia," she stated that SOEs can also contribute to the nation's labor sector by boosting harmonious industrial relations.

On that occasion, she invited state-run companies to conduct transformation in the manpower sector in order to maintain harmonious industrial relations.

"This will be a reference for Indonesia's industrial relations condition," she remarked.

She emphasized that the government has an obligation to maintain conducive industrial relations, which aims to create domestic stability and boost economic growth.

"Conducive industrial relations is the beginning of a company's success," Fauziyah stated.

Meanwhile, the ministry's Director General of Industrial Relations Development and Labor Social Security Indah Anggoro Putri stated that the forum was held with the goal of increasing the understanding of parties involved in industrial relations in resolving disputes.

The forum involved industrial relations staff within the SOEs to discuss strategies for finding solutions to disputes.

"This forum is expected to synergize SOE policies in resolving industrial relation disputes," she remarked.

Earlier, Fauziyah noted that industrial relations mediators have an important, strategic, and decisive role in realizing conducive, harmonious, and just industrial relations.

"In the midst of the current labor dynamics and the influence of technological disruption, improving the quality of industrial relations mediators is necessary," she stated.
