This train occupancy rate (TOR) was achieved through 22 Whoosh trips comprising 14 regular trips and eight additional trips.
KCIC's General Manager Corporate Secretary Eva Chairunisa in a statement on Sunday said the average TOR of the Whoosh HSR on October 21, 2023, was recorded at 86 percent. Some of the train occupancy rates reached more than 95 percent for certain routes and schedules.
The travel schedule with an occupancy rate above 95 percent was the Halim Station-Tegalluar Station at 16.45 local time and departures from Tegalluar Station and Padalarang Station at 16.45 local time.
While schedules with the TOR above 90 percent were trips from Halim Station at 06.40, 07.30, 08.45, 09.45, and 10.20 local times; and trips from Tegalluar Station and Padalarang Station at 15.35 and 17.35 local times, Chairunisa explained.
According to her, the increasing number of Whoosh passengers showed people's high enthusiasm for boarding the high-speed train.
To anticipate the increasing number of bookings, KCIC has planned to add more trips to accommodate the demand.
Based on ticket sales data, KCIC noted that the number of passengers on Sunday was also still high, with 10,968 passengers had booked the tickets to various routes with average occupancy reaching 83 percent and some trips reaching 96 percent, Chairunisa remarked.
With this high level of public interest in the Whoosh HSR, she ensured that her party would prepare and improve services for passengers starting from the stations' waiting rooms, counters, commercial areas, and during trip.
KCIC will also continue to coordinate with the state-run railway company, PT KAI, and other stakeholders to integrate transportation modes for passengers continuing their trips from Cimahi, Bandung, and other destinations.
"We appreciate and express our gratitude for the high demand in the Whoosh HSR. We hope that it can continue to be the number one choice to travel from Jakarta to Bandung and vice versa," she added.
