We seek to realize a peaceful election that does not trigger problemsJambi (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin has planned to invite three vice presidential candidates to a lunch to discuss efforts to prevent tension and conflicts before and during the 2024 General Elections.
"It is true that I am planning to meet with vice presidential candidates. However, we need to initially synchronize the schedule," VP Amin remarked on the sidelines of his inspection on an integrated health post (posyandu) in Jambi Province on Tuesday.
The vice president noted that his side still awaits the time when all the three vice presidential candidates are in Jakarta.
"We are lobbying them to find a moment when the three of them are in Jakarta. This turned out to not be an easy task since one is currently in Central Java, one in East Java, and one in Papua," he pointed out.
Amin then said he plans to meet the vice presidential candidates to discuss efforts to guide the supporters of each candidate to realize a peaceful election, as he believes that the candidates play a crucial role in this matter.
"We seek to realize a peaceful election that does not trigger problems," he stated.
Speaking in connection with President Joko Widodo's lunch and meeting with presidential candidates at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (October 30), VP Amin said that the president invited the candidates as an effort to prevent polarity in the public.
The president continues to encourage candidates to compete in a fair and transparent manner while making efforts to prevent any conflicts from taking place, he affirmed.
"And also to avoid hoaxes," he added.
