State tourism holding company InJourney's Director of Marketing and Tourism Program, Maya Watono, stated here on Thursday that the 2023 Aquabike Jetski World Championship that will be held on November 22-26 is the result of collaboration between InJourney and the local governments.
"Each district has prepared various side events to support the success of the Aquabike Jetski World Championship 2023," she remarked.
The Aquabike Jetski World Championship will be the 2nd international water sports event to be held at Lake Toba this year.
Earlier, on February 24-26, InJourney had held a world-class water sports event, namely F1 Powerboat or Formula 1 Motor Boat Racing (F1H2O).
The holding of two international water sports championships is expected to promote Lake Toba as one of the global water sports tourism destinations.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian Government has designated Lake Toba as one of the super-priority tourism destinations.
Lake Toba is part of the Toba Caldera that is recognized as a global geopark by UNESCO.
By presenting the Aquabike Jetski World Championship, InJourney expected that Lake Toba could become Indonesia's mainstay water sports tourism site.
"InJourney will continue to present various special events on Lake Toba, so that the number of tourist visits in the region can increase and realize the target of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia and the economic benefits of more than Rp1.7 trillion," Watono remarked.
Samosir District Head Vandiko T. Gultom believes that the championship will bolster the local economy, as a large number of spectators will come from within and outside the country.
"This event is expected to have a positive impact, including on Samosir's economy," he remarked.
