Jakarta (ANTARA) - The General Elections Commission (KPU) invited the three pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates and political parties to draw their serial numbers for the election on Tuesday, November 14, at 6:30 p.m. local time.

"It will start at 6:30 p.m. local time on November 14, 2023," KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari stated here at the KPU Office on Monday.

He explained that the KPU will start the activity with a gala dinner with the three pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates.

In addition, KPU invited leaders of political parties that proposed the names of the candidates.

"We have invited each pair of candidates. We will serve them in the stands prepared in the parking lot of the KPU Office. The quota is 150 people with the political party leaders and candidates," he stated.

After dinner, an open plenary meeting will be held for drawing the serial numbers.

Asy'ari remarked that the drawing and determination of candidates' serial numbers was in accordance with Article 235, Paragraph 2 of Law No. 17 of 2017 on Elections.

After receiving the serial numbers, the KPU will give each pair 10 minutes to deliver speeches.

The KPU has officially announced the three pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates competing in the 2024 election: Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar; Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD; and Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

The announcement was made after the KPU verified the documents and saw the results of the pairs' medical exams.

"They are declared qualified as the pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates for the 2024 simultaneous elections," KPU member Idham Holik stated in a press conference at the KPU Office.

This determination is stated in KPU's Decision No. 1632 of 2023.
