Director of Research and Innovation Licensing and Scientific Authority Management at BRIN, Tri Sundari, noted in a statement here on Wednesday that BRIN researchers could share their competencies and developments in the world of research, especially in the health sector.
"Through the cooperation and collaboration with PPNI, it is hoped that BRIN can get input that can improve the quality of research and innovation in Indonesia," she remarked.
On Tuesday, November 14, 2023, BRIN and PPNI signed a memorandum of understanding on research, development, assessment, and application, as well as inventions and innovations in the health sector.
One of the main points that became the reason for the cooperation is the formation of an ethics commission related to research in the health sector.
The ethics commission is related to various requirements, ways to conduct reviews on proposals and protocols in the ethics commission, as well as training to improve accreditation.

Sundari noted that in addition to the formation of the ethics commission, the cooperation will also include improvement of human resources' competence.
Chairperson of the Central Executive Board of PPNI, Harif Fadhillah, stated that his side had carried out a reformulation process to improve the quality of nurses by participating in the development of science.
"Even at the ASEAN level, we have agreed on five main competencies that must be possessed, and one of them is research. Thus, nurses, who have attained a professional degree, have the ability to conduct research," he remarked.
He expressed hope that the competence of PPNI members, especially in research, would be improved. Moreover, since PPNI is engaging in the health sector, which has direct contact with living things and humans, it becomes increasingly important to focus on the code of ethics.
He noted that with its networks with universities and nursing colleges, which are also active in conducting research, BRIN can also obtain data that can support the emergence of policies.
"Especially policies for improving the quality, research, and, of course, benefit the country," he stated.
