Amin said that they talked about how to build the same outlook in the framework of carbon trading.
"We have the potential to sell carbon, and currently, there is no established standard as the regulation is not in place. We hope that at COP28, it can become more concrete," Amin said.
COP28 or the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 30 November to 12 December 2023.
During the meeting, he lauded the holding of the Global Muslim Business Forum 2023 in Kuching on Tuesday evening (November 28).
He said the event was extraordinary, and Indonesia and Malaysia share a range of similarities in developing the halal industry.
"We are supporting this, so that it (cooperation in the halal industry) can be more concrete for it, not only as a forum but also as global business actions in the form of integrated Muslim world trade. This extensive work can be profitable," Amin explained.
He affirmed that Indonesia has vast potential for trading carbon emissions, as it is intensively developing sustainable industries and economies.
The two also discussed protection of Indonesian migrant workers, and Amin was informed that migrant workers in Sarawak have been treated well.
"We spoke about training centers, halal issues, and migrant workers. They also have some kind of job training centers, because generally, our migrant workers (in Malaysia) work in palm oil (plantations), refineries, and construction," he added.
The two leaders also discussed investment cooperation, including for the construction of a hydroelectric power plant in North Kalimantan.
