"We will launch nanosatellites in 2024, followed by ships with drones and underwater drones. The three equipments will be integrated with the command center," KKP Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono informed in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The minister said that for the procurement of nanosatellites and underwater drones, his ministry will propose the allocation of US$140 million in the 2024 state budget of the KKP ministry.
He informed that the nanosatellites will be produced in Denmark.
In addition, Trenggono said that the use of nanosatellites is a part of the marine space management strategy being developed by his ministry to support blue economy-based development.
The nanosatellites will also be used to map activities and conditions at sea, he added.
Earlier, the KKP Ministry issued Circular Letter (SE) Number B.1945/MEN-KP/XI/2023 concerning Policy Relaxation During the Transition Period for the Implementation of Measured Fishing.
The circular states that quota-based measured fishing will be postponed in 2024 and will be implemented in 2025. The circular also covers the granting of fishing quotas, non-tax revenue (PNBP) for transferring fishing quotas, and the postponement of PNBP for business permits issued by the governor.
During the policy relaxation period, the ministry has asked business actors in the fishing and fish transportation sub-sectors with business permits to submit changes to the format of the fishery business permit (SIUP) by no later than December 31, 2023.
"While for the governor's authority must be submitted no later than December 31, 2024, with reports of the progress to the director general of captured fisheries of the KKP Ministry," circular number 3 letter E states.
