"There are the Jakarnaval (Jakarta Carnaval) in Monas and Thamrin area, the Malam Muda Mudi event, and the New Year celebration along Sudirman-Thamrin," Head of the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Office Andhika Permata confirmed here on Wednesday.
Permata stated that his side will hold the Jakarnaval and Malam Muda Mudi events to enliven the 2024 New Year momentum.
"There is a main stage like last year (on Sudirman and Thamrin)," he noted while adding that preparations were still underway for the events.
His side will provide the event details once everything is ready.
"There will be an announcement to the public, but it is under the process of formulation and will be informed to the public soon," he stated.
Meanwhile, the Greater Jakarta Police has prepared as many as 4,041 joint personnel to secure the Christmas and New Year celebrations to anticipate threats and secure the events.
"The joint personnel consist of the police, the military, the local government, and other competent elements," Chief of the Greater Jakarta Police, Karyoto, noted on Monday (December 18).
Karyoto remarked that his side along with the military and other stakeholders had held a coordination meeting to discuss possible threats and ways to handle them in the field.
He said the police will focus on securing tourist destinations in the city and houses of worship by conducting areal sterilization.
Regional legislative member Ismail said he supports the Jakarnaval event to improve the local economy and boost Jakarta's regional income during the New Year celebrations.
