Penajam Paser Utara (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) visited Waru Market, North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan, to greet locals and hand them parcels before concluding his activities during his two-day working visit in the new capital city (IKN) Nusantara.

The market is situated in Waru Sub-district, approximately two hours of road travel from the Government Core Area of IKN Nusantara in Sepaku Sub-district.

Accompanied by IKN development curator Ridwan Kamil, the head of state distributed black clothes and tote bags containing basic necessities as well as envelopes to merchants at the traditional market.

A merchant, Painah, 73, stated that the president gave her a parcel.

"Mr President gave parcels to me and other people here," she remarked.

The merchant then expressed her gratitude to President Jokowi for the parcels given, adding that she will use the assistance contained in the parcel for meeting her daily needs.

Another merchant, Aisyah, 28, also admitted to having received a parcel from the president.

"Mr Jokowi said that this (parcel) contains aid for my business. Hence, I will make good use of it as a business capital," she stated while noting that the president inquired about the prices of vegetables she was selling.

Earlier, President Jokowi arrived in East Kalimantan on Wednesday to inspect and personally launch the construction of various development projects in Indonesia's future capital city.

On the first day of his visit, Jokowi participated in groundbreaking ceremonies for the General Central Hospital of Nusantara and a consortium called the Nusantara Superblock, among others.
