This achievement is a symbol of my struggle and respect for my beloved dad
Jakarta (ANTARA) - M. Indre Wanof, an Indonesian student from the West Sumatran city of Payakumbuh, received the Student of the Year Award from Moscow State University of Technology STANKIN for his academic and organizational achievements.

"This achievement is a symbol of my struggle and respect for my beloved dad," Wanof noted in a statement that the Overseas Indonesian Students' Association Alliance (PPI Dunia) released in Jakarta on Sunday.

Wanof, who received the award at a special event held on Sunday, said he has high hopes of elevating Indonesia's image in the Russian Federation and dedicated his achievement to his father who had recently passed away.

Wanof expressed optimism that his achievement would motivate Indonesian students across the globe to keep forging ahead and focusing on achieving their goals despite the conditions they face.

Chancellor of Moscow State University of Technology STANKIN Vladimir Valeryevich Serebryany was quoted as saying that he lauded this Indonesian student's achievement.

He remarked that winning the award is 100 times harder for international students than their Russian colleagues due to an obligation for them to keep using Russian language in all academic and organizational activities.

The international students were also exposed to a different culture of learning and way of thinking from their Russian colleagues, he remarked.
